MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ReviewWednesday, April 08, 2015
I went to MAC store to try it on my eyelid for a few time before I make purchase. My main objective is to find concealer to cover my dark circle… The past few time when I went to MAC, the SA introduced me with yellow undertone shade. Yellow undertone will help brighten up the skin tone but may not be effective in covering dark eye circle. Last week, another SA suggest me to take a warm tone instead which can help cover up my dark circle very well. Since the concealer can look darker when applied on eye, SA suggest to mix it with foundation as a second layer to balance out the colour. So put on concealer first then follow with foundation. The SA also recommend to put on another layer of concealer after applying foundation. I’ll talk more later on which is my preferred method of using this concealer.
Let us first read little introduction of this concealer.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer is a lightweight fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage with a comfortable, natural matte finish. Colour-true formula lasts up to 15 hours. Helps conceal and correct the look of under-eye circles, and discolorations. Comes in a clear glass vial with a matte black pump.

It comes in a clear glass pump bottle which is quite unusual for conceal. In general, concealer comes with a doe foot applicator instead of a pump dispenser. I find this pump dispenser is more hygienic and can be easily controlled over the amount I required. It also fit into my palm nicely not being to small…
Updates on 17th Apr: After using it for weeks now I feel the pump dispenser is harder to control....It's so hard that when I press harder the amount that dispense out is way too much...If i press lighter the product doesn't dispense out.
It is said to be lightweight and has medium to full coverage but I don’t find it really lightweight. It not creamy either nor too thick but definitely not light. I find it medium weight and not creamy at all thus blending need to be fast. Thankfully it’s not overly dry so blending still possible but need to be quick still. It does finish to matte and that is why you need to blend fast. It does have a light scent but doesn’t really bother me much as I could barely smell it.
Before I decide to purchase this I am still contemplating between this and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I find MAC has fuller coverage thus chose it over Nars. I also feel this concealer last longer than Nars which makes sense because MAC is more to matte and matte always last longer. Using it for the first time, I apply concealer first then foundation then concealer again. Three layer look a little patchy but that could be because I baked it with loose powder. Since it’s matte finish, I think I should just set it with only a dab of loose powder and not baking it. BUT, I still love how well it cover up my bruises on my eye. I been thinking long and hard if I wanted to post up my picture with bruises on my eye but I think this will be the best way to test out the concealer. So here you go before and after using the concealer.
p/s: Please excuse my yellow and blue eye…. I look horrible i know, sobs sobs…
and let me show you the coverage with just one layer of concealer. As you can see in below picture, the concealer colour is much darker than my skin tone, so it’s a must to blend with foundation to balance the colour.
Let me show you the zoom-ed in of the area for you to see the coverage in detail.. I say it did a pretty good job covering such dark bruises with just one layer. After I apply foundation to blend in, it look perfect..
On another day, I try the concealer on again and this time I set with a thin layer of loose powder only. It does look better and not patchy anymore. I do feel dry but in a good way and I do not feel the tight feeling like other do. I did moisturised my eyes with eye cream before applying the concealer though. Here’s how it look with light setting powder!
If you look at below picture, you can see the concealer hide my bruises and dark circle very well. However, there is still some grey tone that is visible. The SA did advise that if I want to fully cover the dark circle I need to use a colour corrector.
This concealer has great consistency and really long lasting. It does crease but not as much as other concealer I tried to date. It start crease after 5-6 hours of wearing which is pretty good. My mascara transfered to my lower eye as the concealer start to crease but not as much as some other concealer I tried up to date. Also since it finish matte it doesn’t feel greasy on my eye. So far I find both MAC Pro Longwear Concealer & Make Up For Ever Camouflage Palette had very similar coverage. The only difference is the later is more creamy but MAC last longer on my eye. So far I am liking it and will continue to use it!
Alright my lovelies, it’s the end of my review. Let me know what you think about this concealer… Or maybe you can share with me which is your favourite concealer? I got to go for now…. Bye Bye..
p/s: I am change the way I shoot my product as well as editing. Let me know what you think about the pictures if it look better now okay?
