Dukes & Duchess, The Royal AffairMonday, September 15, 2014
Located at TTDI, Dukes & Duchess is gastropub which sees the combination between a bar and restaurant under the same roof.
The décor sees the use of dark woods and wall coverings that exudes class and the Victorian-grunge ambience sits well along with its theme.
We start off with the Roasted Mushroom Soup. The roasted button mushroom is blended and braised which is garnished with parsley and cream. The soup texture is thick as broth and the taste envelops the taste bud though there is a slight sourish after taste. The parsley might be attribute to the after taste. There is the side serving of garlic bread with the soup.
Next is the Spaghetti Carbonara. The thick cream based spaghetti comes with optional choice of toppings according to preference. However the taste is lacking and the bacon is saving grace for taste.
Continuing the feast, next is the Silence of The Lamb. Serving with fries and grilled vegetables, the smell emit from the lamb is absolutely great. The tender texture of the lamb makes it easy to slice off and not chewy. The grilled taste had seared into the lamb which makes the taste prominent and along with the homemade sauce to complement the lamb further. Checked as D&D’s best sellers, we can taste why.
The next dish is a slab of serious solid matter with the Australian Stricky Pork Ribs. This ‘Mean’ meat packs quite a punch with it being marinated in D&D’s special blend for over 24 hours (Now that really got my attention) which is then grilled evenly, to ensure the taste is sealed and serve on a bed of mashed potatoes with grilled vegetables and corn on the side. The texture is absolutely tender and it taste superb. Though it comes choices for the sauces, you can have it without any sauce and it taste great.
The gourmet concludes with the serving of their best sellers which is the Molten Lava Cake. It is said that each serving is personally handmade by Chef Don which quality and taste is definitely maintained. The flowing chocolate lava is served hot in the core as it flows out with the slice of the cake or we will be having lumpy chocolate. The dessert is served with a scoop of ice cream on the side.
