After a long week, we went on to take a breather and enjoy a simple cup of coffee. This time around, we visit Wood and Steel. A cafe gallery that takes everyday art of imagination and incorporate into the cafe theme.

Situated at The Strand, Wood & Steel is positioned ideally which is noticeable as passer by drives through the main road. We were greeted with the strong aroma and the sight of crowded people. We had managed to secure a place while contemplating on what to order.

In a quick glance, we noticed those displayed fixtures look unique as it utilizes daily items that is discarded and turned into art, also remarkable wood carving of tables and chairs with the combination of steel incorporate into the design and function which it’s on the price tag for sale.

We proceed to order some of the variants offered on the menu.

We start off with the coffee. The strong aroma brewing from the coffee is evident when it was served onto our table. The frothy milk is balanced with the heat which makes every sip is a joy. The latte was surprisingly bitter than the flat white though it has more milk compare to flat white.

Subsequently we order the, Breakfast in Bed. The hollandaise sauce combination is good which its sweet but with a hint of slightly charred taste and the pepper had sure add more dimension to the taste. The salad is fresh especially the onion as someone like me who dislike onions, would actually love it when paired with the sauce which complements the taste and masked the pungent flavour from the onion. The sauce taste very similar to teriyaki and the only set back is the Egg Benedict which is not runny else it would be perfect.

Next we have the, Blanket Beef. The serving looks great and presented creatively in terms of presentation. Somehow, the beef look like crisscut potato from certain angle. Don’t you agree with me? On the first bite, we enjoy the sides with the slightly fried spinach bed and the fresh button mushroom that goes really well with the brown sauce. The beef is slightly a let down as the texture is rather hard to chew and there's the tendon part that can't be chew apart which I have to swallow it.

We also ordered another meal which is the, Stuffed Chicken. We were surprised at the presentation as the stuffed chicken came out looking more like spinach sandwiched with chicken breast. In terms of taste, the chicken is well marinated but the texture is tad hard which leads to tiring from chewing all both chicken breast and the additional cheese on top doesn’t complement the taste entirely. The spinach is similar with to Blanket Beef. The side vegetables is normal but I love the Brussels sprout as rarely see it in dishes I had in Klang Valley. The baguette is rather salty to my taste.

It was lovely outing though several surprises here and there but it’s worth to give it a try especially to explore those unique fixtures and furniture. So catch this place during your next visit near to the neighbourhood.
