Review: Lush Fresh Face Mask

Monday, December 02, 2013

Hello lovelies, by the time you reading this post I am actually getting ready to take off to Chengdu, China. I am happy that I’ll be seeing panda real soon but sad thing is I will not be able to see any FB updates in China. So even if you didn’t see me posting my new blog updates on my FB page please visit my blog daily as I have scheduled all the post accordingly.

Back to the topic today LUSHHHHHHHHHHHH….. I fallen in love with them when I was in UK, I walked in their shop while I was walking on the street… I was attracted by the hand craft colourful soap and of course the lovely sweet scent… I was still a student and can’t afford any of Lush product. Walked out sadly and put that in my long wish list!!

A few days ago I finally bought my first Lush. Did you saw my Lush Haul in my FB page?

Lush HaulTotal Damage SGD 61.50

So I wanted a bath bomb (you know how crazy I am over bath bomb or fizz lately don’t you?) and a fresh face mask BUT my friend bought me 2 fresh face mask instead of one! When I receive the Lush package I was so happy and I can smell it from far…. But but I am darn broke now because Lush is not cheap but it's all worth it..read on and you will know why...!

Wonder which two mask I bought? The famous Cupcake and Also Cosmetic Catastrophe!!!

Before we go further, allow me to do a short introduction on Lush. Their tagline “Fresh Handmade Cosmetic” say it all.. Lush uses fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, finest essential oil and safe synthetic to hand make all their products. Thus, fresh face mask are made from these ingredient with added deep cleansing clays and nutrient rich herbs. These masks need to be chilled all the time because they are made from freshly squeezed juices, extracts or whole fruits and vegetables… So store them like you do to you fruits and vegetable. This also means this mask is not available online!

Let’s begin with the dark chocolate Cupcake Fresh Face Mask.

Lush Says: Cupcake is our one Fresh Face Mask that was created for a bit of fun. At the time, our inventor’s daughter was a young girl having slumber parties with her girlfriends every weekend, so he whipped up a chocolate mint mask for young, oily skin (officially solidifying him as the coolest dad ever). If you suffer from oily or spotty skin, slather it in this cocoa concoction. With spearmint oil to cool, vanilla absolute to calm redness and Rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse. Cupcake is a sweet savior for young faces. Smothering yourself in chocolate for clearer skin? Every teenage girl’s dream.

How to Use: Smooth a good dollop of Fresh Face Mask on a clean face. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely). Wash off with warm water.

Texture: Very very thick and sticky….It need some time to evenly spread on the face.

Scent: It does not smell like chocolate well maybe only 10% chocolate scent… It has this strong floral and herb scent.. The smell does linger on my face for almost a day…

Cindy Says: Guess what the mask does not smell like chocolate at all maybe just a little!!! I got deceived by the dark brown color which can be easily relate to chocolate. Scooping it out gave me another surprise… I swear this is my first encounter with such a thick and sticky mask… It took me some time to spread it all over my face! It dries up really fast and you must wash off before it is completely dries off…

When washing off, I dap some water on the mask to moisten it then massage with circular motion (because it contains micro beads, this step helps to scrub away dead skin) and wipe it off with my hand and water. The mask came off in tiny particle very similar to the one that came off from erasing against paper. Since the mask is chilled it does makes my skin feel so cooling upon application and because it is clay type mask the cooling doesn’t last. I couldn’t really feel tingling effect from the spearmint oil also! I was surprised that my skin feel so smooth and clean after using the mask. Good thing is it does not make my skin feel so tight (most clay mask do) after rinsing off even though it remove all the oils from my face. I have a love hate relationship with the scent…at time it does smell like a yummy chocolate but most of the time it smell like herb/floral based scent! This is a great mask for those with oily skin that often encounter breakouts.

Lush Says: Still learning about proper skin care? No need to be embarrassed. After all, every face has different needs! We recommend starting here. Prevent disasters by taking regular care with our deep cleaning blueberry mask, Catastrophe Cosmetic. The little blue bulbs are packed with vitamins, with a gentle calamine base to cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Use this one weekly as a deep cleansing treatment to kick off your regular skin care routine.

How to Use: Smooth a good dollop of Fresh Face Mask on a clean face. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely). Wash off with warm water.

Texture: Creamy and thick paste….

Scent: It has the similar scent to Cupcake but minus off the chocolate scent…Nope I can’t detect any blueberries scent here..

Cindy Says: No it does not smell like yummy blueberry even there is blueberry bits in it. It is more creamy and not as thick as cupcake and that means it’s easier to spread it on my face. I do the same step as in cupcake when removing this mask but it does not came off in a small particle like cupcake do! This mask can be used on all skin type and though it’s for deep cleansing, after rinsing off it leave a layer of oil to ensure skin is moisturized. It does not absorb away all the oil like cupcake do. This is very good for those who have dry skin. My face look glowing and radiant after using the mask… Honestly I prefer cupcake more. It gives a really good calming effect to my face all thanks to the calamine base.

Lush13With lots of blueberry bits..

I forget to snap the before picture! Overly excited to put on the mask…LOL

Lush14Super fair skin after applying the mask!

Pros:
1. Leave my skin glowing.
2. Does not wipe off all natural oil on my face.
3. Made from fresh ingredient.
4. Scent lingers on my skin for hours ( some may not like the scent but I am ok with it)
5. Easy to spread on my face

Cons:
1. Quite pricey but worth every penny
2. Not available in store in Malaysia, need to purchase from other Lush store in overseas (nearest is SG).
3. Some may not like the scent
4. Short Shelf life

Overall, I prefer cupcake mask more because of the scent and also the smooth effects it gave. Lush mask are really good and effect are quite visible but the price is on the high side considering the small size. Also the mask has a very short shelf life is also a problem for me..At times I forget to use my mask because all I want is to lay on the bed after a long day at work. I might rebuy Lush mask but not so soon as it’s not easily available and yes my bank account is empty now!

So did you try any of these mask before??? While I have been madly in love with bath bomb I am going to review Lush bath bomb. Stay tune for the upcoming post.
